Product description
"the essays selected from ahmet hashim's column in the ikdam newspaper, along with his impressions from his trip to paris, were published in ""according to us"" in 1928." Written in a lean, clear, flowing, sometimes mocking language, the essays and travel impressions with the same stylistic features reflect the reader the author's deep observation power and critical point of view, as well as his effective expression. However, the poeticism that stands out in some of his writings also reminds us that hashem is the emotional, fragile poet of the image-loaded poems. It is a striking example of how ordinary and small issues that we encounter every day can create a holistic picture of the world with the pen of a masterful writer. Ahmet hashem (1887-1933), born in baghdad, spends his childhood years in various provinces of arabia due to his father's duty. The spiritual trauma caused by losing his mother at an early age leads him to develop a timid, introverted, and dreamy personality structure starting from that period. In 1895, he came to istanbul with his father. after learning turkish, which he could not speak well, at the numune-i terakki school for the first two years, he enrolled at the galatasaray sultanate in 1897. Ahmet hışım, who was increasingly leaning towards literature, published his first poem at the age of 16 with the support of his literature teachers tevfik fikret and ahmet hikmet müftüoğlu. He graduated from galatasaray in 1907, and while working at the reji administration, he continued his studies at the faculty of law. In the announcement published in servet-i fünun by the fecr-i ati community in 1909, he also has his signature. After this draw, which did not last long, the poet, who prefers to be outside political and literary groupings, develops a unique understanding of poetry. With the poetry books titled lakeside hours published in 1921 and piyale published in 1926, he is among the leading poets of the period. As one of the founders of modern turkish poetry, he significantly affects those who came after him. The obscurity and power in his poems correspond to intelligibility, and his prose is quite lean, open, fluent and, in places, humorous. Ahmet hashem's writings, with their universal perspective that transcends time on many issues, are still intriguing for today's readers. We will continue to include the author's selected works in our turkish literature classics series.
