Product description

Honoré de balzac (1799-1850): the great name of the french literature of the 19th century.

he started his literary career by writing plays, turned to the novel as a result of the criticism he received.

he completed 85 novels in twenty years, leaving 50 novel manuscripts behind when he died. In 1830, he compiled his works of allegory under the title of human comedy, referencing dante's divine comedy. Over 2000 characters were created, some of which turned into archetypes of literature over time, all these characters were examined without prejudice, with an analytical approach, without isolating them from their social class. For the first time in 1834 in revue de paris, goriot baba, who was portrayed, appears under the title of scenes from paris life in the review of human comedy.

The novel, which focuses on the misery and loneliness of the old merchant goriot, who has fallen into poverty, reveals an extremely tragic plot through the influence of money on the human condition, the fatherhood institution, human misery, and the vanity of showiness.

This bourgeois hell, which embodies its own antitheses, namely vautrin, where the narrator's sometimes angry and mocking attitude is embodied, and rastignac, the ambitious but naive law student who has his eyes on parisian society, has never been depicted with such a striking style until goriot father.
