Product description

Five weeks in a balloon – the abridged text of the statement made at the royal geographical society meeting on january 14, 1862, sparked a wave of excitement in the scientific community. Dr. fergusson was planning to travel across the african continent. Of course, it wasn't exactly a new idea. By that time, many brave explorers had ventured forth to uncover the mysteries of the enigmatic continent, and a great many lost their lives in the attempt. Some explorers, however, were limited by their specific area of operation and could only cover a few regions. Doctor fergusson would begin his journey from the indian ocean, traverse the continent entirely, and eventually reach the atlantic ocean. The doctor's idea was considered insane. Even a large army couldn't complete this journey under the conditions of that day. In fact, dr. fergusson's plan was much crazier than people thought, because the famous explorer was thinking of crossing the entire continent on a hot air balloon. Fun, exciting, great adventure!.. 144 pages
