Product description

"hippocrates of kos (460-370 bc): he freed medicine from the shadow of superstitions and transformed it into an art based on rational foundations, thus becoming known in history as the ""father of medicine""." The understanding he put forward has been adopted by different societies and cultures over time, even by galenos (2nd century ad). It has continued its impact into the 18th century, where it laid the foundations of contemporary science by being transmitted to the western and islamic middle ages through it.

The compilation attributed to hippocrates, called the hippocratic corpus, consists of approximately sixty texts covering a wide range of topics, from human body structure to causes of diseases, and even technical rules to be observed in practice, down to moral aphorisms, and carries the quality of being the most concise and fundamental source on medicine that has survived from antiquity to the present day. The aphorisms, which are considered the apple of this compilation and have been cherished by doctors for centuries, are a gateway to the groundbreaking medical understanding of hippocrates in the history of medicine.
