Parola Yayınları Those Who Direct the Course of Science: James Cook

Product description

James cook was born on november 7, 1728 in marton, yorkshire, england. The english sailor and explorer is famous for his voyages, especially in the great ocean, and the island discoveries he made during these voyages. James cook began his first voyage, which would place him among the world's greatest sailors, in 1968. Cook, who was hired by the royal society to explore the pacific ocean and find new trade routes, first passed cape horn during his journey starting from england in 1768 and arrived in tahiti on april 13, 1769. After mapping the entire coastline of new zealand, the sailor who moved to australia was the first to discover the strait between the north and south islands of new zealand, and named it cook strait. Although his journey was a great success in many ways, he failed in his primary goal of calculating the distances of venus and other planets from the sun due to the high margin of error. Before returning to europe with his ship endeavour, cook, who was either in australia or passing through, collected many plant and animal samples from here and presented them to the scientists upon his return to england, and gained great fame by publishing his travel diary.
