Encore Yayınları Arab Jazz

Product description

Sushi, kebabs, a cafe, and a bar: a cosmopolitan neighborhood of paris.

people from different cultures, different religions, live side by side, worship and fall in love. Ahmed, who constantly dreams of melancholy and constantly reads detective books, watches the clouds from the balcony of his small apartment, rises, flies: mountains, rocks, seas, the land of his ancestors. Suddenly, the blood dripping from laura's balcony, the upstairs neighbor, throws her into this world, into the desert of reality.

the murder throws the whole neighborhood, ahmed finds himself unusually suspicious. Karim miské skillfully keeps the fiction under his control as he moves between the sensual streets of paris and the synagogues of new york to reveal the truth behind a horrific crime. This first novel of arab jazz writer and documentary filmmaker karim miské won the grand prix de littérature policière, one of the most prestigious police awards in france, in 2012 and the prix du goéland masqué in 2015. The english translation of the book, inspired by james ellroy's white jazz novel, was deemed worthy of the pen award.
