published for the first time in 1967, it consists of three long stories: the first about the aging process, the second about loneliness, and the third about the increasing indifference of a loved one. Three women between the ages of 40 and 60, who are experiencing an existential crisis, describe their pains in the face of disappointments, anger, loneliness, or the infidelity of their spouses. In one's story, in another's diary, in a third's monologue, simone de beauvoir always highlights the same thing: the elegant and passionate struggle of a woman who tried to rebuild her life.

"happy people don't have stories. When you are in confusion and sadness, when you feel broken or deprived of yourself, you feel the need to tell your story. In this book, i wanted to bring together the voices of three women who fought with their words to break out of the impasses they faced.

) do not look for morals or lessons in these stories for nothing, no

my intention was quite different.
