How is the mangala game played?
Mangala, a turkish game of intelligence and strategy, is played by two people. the game board has 12 small pits, 6 each for each player, and a large treasury where each player will collect their stones. the mangala game is played with 48 stones.
Players distribute 48 stones, 4 each, into every pit. the 6 small pits side by side in front of each player are that player's territory. the 6 small pits opposite are the opponent's territory. players try to accumulate the most stones in their treasury. at the end of the game, the player who collects the most stones wins the game set. the game begins with a draw. there are 4 main basic rules in the game.
1. basic rule
The player who wins the draw gets the right to start. he takes 4 stones from the well he wants in his own area. he drops one stone into the well he took from and distributes the stones in his hand by dropping one stone into each well in the opposite direction of the clock, that is, to the right, until the stones in his hand run out. if the last stone in his hand coincides with the treasure, the player has the right to play again. if there is only one stone in the player's well, when his turn comes, he can move this stone to the well on his right. the move order passes to the opponent. each time, the last stone left in the player's hand determines the fate of the game.
2. basic rule
While the player whose turn it is distributes the stones he took from his own well, if he has a stone left in his hand, he continues to leave stones in the wells in the opponent's area.the last stone in the player's hand makes the number of stones in the well he encounters in the opponent's area an even number (such as 2, 4, 6, 8) the player becomes the owner of all the stones in this well and puts them in his own treasury.the turn passes to his opponent.
3. basic rule
While distributing the game pieces, if the last piece left in the player's hand coincides with an empty well located in their own area, and if there is an opponent's piece in the well opposite to their empty well, they both take the pieces in their opponent's well, and also take the piece they left in their own empty well and put it in their treasury. the turn of move passes to the opponent.
4. basic rule
The game set ends when the stones in any of the players' zones are finished. the player who finishes their stones in their own zone first wins all the stones in their opponent's zone as well. therefore, the game's dynamic never drops until the very end.
