summary: the chess master, published after stefan zweig's tragic suicide, is one of the author's latest and brightest works. This long story, which we present with the translation of tahsin yücel, tells the story of a fierce competition experienced by chance on a cruise ship. "on one side of the board, there is a world chess champion

on the other side, there is a man who has developed his skill by playing ""against himself"" with the stones he made from bread in the cell closed by the nazis."

which one will win this metaphorical battle game? Is it the intellectual who still bears the scars of the trauma he experienced, or the world chess champion who is said to represent hitler? The second long story of the book, the letter of an unknown woman, describes a tormented love, a life destroyed by pride and passion. Zweig's mastery of the pen is as fascinating as ever. Yordam kitap proudly presents its readers with a selection of the most important works of stefan zweig, one of the greatest writers europe has produced in the 20th century.

with the language flavor created by our master literary translators such as behçet necatigil, tahsin yücel, salâh birsel, hamdi varoğlu, ali avni öneş, deniz banoğlu.
