Product description

Liam o'flaherty, a sociological writer of irish literature, tells the great famine, which led to the death of a million people and the emigration of two million people from ireland in the 1840s, in the famine novel, focusing on a poor family. O'flaherty reveals this terrifying destruction, which occurred in the history of ireland under english rule, along with the role of the administrators in the destruction. The struggle for life, identity, and independence of the people is a theme in hunger, just like in his other novels.

It is seen that o'flaherty, who never backs down from expressing his respect for the heartiness and determination of the irish people in his novels and stories, skillfully combines an uncompromising naturalism with poetic narrative in his works, and psychological resolution with a sharp perspective. The famine is one of the two strongest novels of o'flaherty, along with the adapted film muhbir. The famine, which celal üster translated in the mamak military prison, was previously published in 1973.
