In pedagogy of hope, freire, who began his professional life by deciding to leave the legal profession and become an educator, and continued as an emigrant in countries such as chile and switzerland along with the political upheavals that brazil went through, brings us to the history of the struggle for “popular education” full of brilliant successes and bitter defeats in the twentieth century, with sharp powers of observation and vivid anecdotes. In this book, where freire speaks with himself, he both responds to the criticisms directed at him, turning to the discussions created by his work, especially pedagogy of the oppressed, and on the other hand, he re-experiences pedagogy of the oppressed, as he says himself. With a special emphasis on the relationship between hope and struggle and practice as an ontological need, pedagogy of hope carries an indispensable guide not only for those who want to understand freire more deeply and his educational understanding, but also for those who realize how determinative the ethical dimensions of the struggle for a more equal and free society are.
