Product description

The main reason roof gardens are not more widespread is because we simply don’t know much about them. In our country, where the population is increasingly living in cities, roofs are quite ideal places to set up gardens.

Roofs gardens offer an important vision and awareness for professionnal building-related such as architects and engineers, but also for landscape architects, horticulturists, biologists and urban planners, policy makers, local or central government officials and enthusiasts.

we all know very well that urban farming is in high demand due to the lack of green space.

however, year by year increasing prices of plots of good qualityunfortunately, this leads to the fact that green areas are reduced.

roof gardens are a great opportunity at this point.

what makes this book unique is that it was written specifically for turkey.

our country has a unique climate and varied growing conditions. Dr.

ekşi has conducted numerous green roof studies in turkey.

therefore, this book is invaluable as a resource. Although the information is specific to turkey, it is possible to adapt this information to other parts of the world with a similar climate. Many questions about roof gardens are confusing.

can the existing waterproofing cover be used? What types of plants would be successful? What kind of growing medium is used and to what depth? How much maintenance does it require? Environmental conditions are often harsher for plants growing on roof surfaces

high air temperatures, drying winds, and extreme temperature fluctuations in the root zone, low moisture content resulting from shallow growing media.

this situation brings a number of reservations in terms of transferring the landscape areas from the ground level to the roof.

that's where roof gardens will provide great service.

this work is a compilation of research and technical information that provides guidelines for the design and application of green roof systems.
