Yeni İnsan Yayınevi Biodiversity

Product description

At the beginning of the twentieth century, more than two thousand varieties of pears were cultivated, and today only two varieties account for 96% of the pears on the stalls. Just like how four potatoes can replace more than a thousand varieties. All other cows that are sacrificed to raise the dutch friesian cow, perceived as a milk machine, share the same fate as pears and potatoes. "the thought pattern called ""efficiency"" continues to be the sole concept focused on in food production. if it continues, tomatoes, corn, strawberries, and many more will be doomed to share the same fate, in fact, it has already happened."

With the botanist scientistmancuso, who made his name with his extraordinary studies on plants, the ideafather of the formations “slow food” and “terra madre”, the journalist-writer and activist petrini, two italians, carry the biodiversity on the agenda from two different perspectives and with an extraordinary intuition.

we are getting poorer. Mancuso, who mobilizes the minds of people worried about the fate of the world, and petrini are now striving to reverse the poverty we face not in the future, but in our daily lives. They invite you to look at nature as a source of inspiration. If we can look at the capacity of plants with an open mind and loving attitude, a new way of life can be laid out before humanity. From the biodiversity of plants to animals, a richness that the planet has to regain... as long as humanity is convinced that this is the real wealth.
