summary:The popular uprising is an epic poem, considered the first of its kind in bulgarian literature.

Although it is considered a historical-political novel, elements such as the loves that happen and do not happen, the pastoral countryside life, the complex atmosphere of the years following the first world war, political debates, ethical and philosophical discussions, the high dose of excitement in war and conflict scenes, and the local party organization's failure to keep up with the masses enrich the novel considerably.

In terms of form, the narrative style, enriched with diaries, letters, and reflections, offers a rather enjoyable reading experience. In fact, the events unfolding and the network of characters surrounding kondarev are so intricately woven that the novel's main protagonist can sometimes be completely out of the narrator's focus for pages, without even hinting at their absence.

In the second volume, we witness the secret arming of the repressors called the blockaders, the destruction of the power of the peasant union by a military coup, in response to the unsuccessful spontaneous uprising of the peasants and the terror of the armed repressors over the people.
