Product description

In bernhard's novel correction, based on a section of the life of the austrian contemporary philosopher ludwig wittgenstein, roithamer expands the focus on the character with his intellectual power. Wittgenstein had built a house in vienna in the 1920s for his sister with an extraordinary geometric design.

Roithamer, the son of a wealthy family who taught at cambridge while intensely engaged in philosophy, architecture, and science, devoted the last six years of his life to establishing the "cone," a mathematically perfected structure he intended to build for his beloved sister, using the proceeds from the sale of the altensam estate inherited from his family, in the middle of the kobernausser forest. Shortly after completing the construction of the cone, he ends his own life due to the uselessness of the structure when his sister dies.

The story of a genius who is forced to constantly correct and refine his understanding until he concludes that the only logical solution to deny his own soul is the truth that gradually comes to light, a nameless first-person narrator who inherits thousands of pages of notes, writings, and an unsettling main draft, held onto pieces of paper, left behind by roithamer, is put together to understand roithamer's spiritual depression. "fix," often hailed by critics as bernhard's masterpiece, is a veritable deluge of language, weaving together cleverly crafted musings on the tension between the pursuit of perfection and the unattainable knowledge. We always get so close to fixing it, to making everything right, to killing ourselves in the process, but we still don't do it. Roithamer wrote that our existence and the corruption of our nature are a misconception without a foundation, but we don't do this. Bernhard's prose is hypnotic, unstoppable, as fast as thought itself. Like all great writers, it evokes the thought that they could say anything, at any moment. The washington post book world: my role model is thomas bernhard

i miss him dearly as a writer. I'd describe it as a periscope-style narrative, where the story twists and turns, revealing itself in glimpses – a truly groundbreaking innovation for the epic writing of our time. W.
