summary: "while tracing the traces of the sad spirit of the city where he lives, istanbul, he found new symbols of the clash and fusion of cultures." When receiving the nobel prize for literature in december 2006, he said, “two years before his death, my father gave me a small suitcase full of his own writings, manuscripts and notebooks.” "i wish my father would be between us today, starting with ""i wish he would talk." Pamuk, who completed the sentence, left a great echo all over the world with one of the most heartfelt and best-prepared speeches in the history of the nobel prize called “my father's suitcase”. The first edition of “my father's suitcase” in february 2007 included the author's nobel prize-winning speech of the same name, as well as his “in kars and in frankfurt” speech, which he gave when he received the peace prize of the german publishers and booksellers association in 2005, and his “imagined writer” speech when he received the puterbaugh award at the university of oklahoma in april 2006. In this new edition, it also includes the speech “european idea”, in which cotton received the sonning prize (denmark), in 2012, to the creators who have contributed to european culture. “dad’s suitcase”, the most concise guide to entering the world of cotton and his writing... “cotton took the art of the novel from our hands, westerners, and turned it into something completely different.”
