Yapı Kredi Yayınları A Meeting on the Riverbank - Christopher Isherwood

Product description

Oliver, a young englishman, writes a letter to his older brother patrick after a long silence, telling him that he has had an experience that will change his life in recent years, that he is interested in hinduism, and that as a result, he has made his final vows and come to a monastery in calcutta to become a monk.

Patrick, a successful broadcaster who is married and has children and is immersed in the earthly life of oliver, who is on the verge of denial, decides to go to india upon hearing this news. His apparent goal is to see his brother one last time before he becomes a monk, but his real intention is to dissuade oliver from his decision. The days the two siblings spend together are likely to cause major disruptions for both of them. "a riverbank encounter," christopher isherwood's final novel, comprises letters patrick wrote to his wife, mother, and forbidden love, alongside oliver's daily notes. "a riverbank encounter: a novel about sibling rivalry, worldly pursuits, and spirituality, all laced with humor." The classic contrast between the good brother and the bad brother is compelling and believable. Edmund wilson
