Vakıfbank Kültür Yayınları Psychology of Disaster

Product description

“disasters can create a deep disruption that extends far beyond their geographical borders.

psychological and behavioral responses comprise the most important public health burden after a disaster.

interventions must be evidence-based, tailored to the needs of the community, and serve to improve safety, de-escalation, community effectiveness, social connectedness, hope and optimism. Disasters are natural events that occur suddenly, are destructive, and where the response capacity of those affected is insufficient. Although ecological and economic consequences are more often discussed, disasters primarily have psychological and psychosocial consequences in terms of disrupting societies' functions and destroying coping mechanisms.

disaster psychology: the book of psychosocial support and interventions in natural disasters, with the contribution of names who are experts in the areas of psychology and psychiatry, carries out a comprehensive review of the psychological effects that arise during and after a disaster.

it presents a basic framework for understanding the psychological impacts of disasters, addressing key concepts, theoretical frameworks, and research findings in the field of disaster psychology.

The book, which aims to contribute to the understanding of the psychological conditions of people affected by various natural disasters, especially in our country, and to provide appropriate psychosocial support and treatment for disaster victims, will be a reference source for academics, psychiatrists, social workers, clinical psychologists, and anyone interested in the subject.
