The contemporary playwright sergey naidyonov mentions three sisters in a letter he wrote to chekhov: after watching the play, i suddenly felt the desire to live, write, and work harder, even though the play was full of pain and sorrow

a strange, optimistic, comforting pain. chekhov's three sisters tells the story of the aristocratic prozorov family, who are trying to face the decline of privileged classes in russia at the beginning of the 20th century. three sisters, olga, masa, and irina, who grew up in moscow, have been living in a small provincial town for eleven years. their hopes of returning to moscow, which symbolizes a life more suitable for their refined tastes and sensibilities, are in a touching contrast with the relentless flow of real life. one year after its writing, three sisters, staged by the moscow art theater in 1901, is one of the milestones of modern theater. product name: three sisters product code: 9786053327004 publication year: 2020.00000000 cover type: cardboard cover paper type: 2nd dough translator: anton chekhov
