Description: Plato (c. 428/7-348/7 BC): After completing the basic education in grammar, music, and physical training for the aristocratic youth of Athens, he became a student of the philosopher Cratylus, which introduced him to the works of pre-Socratic philosophers. However, the thinker who most influenced Plato was Socrates, though information about where and how the most famous teacher-student duo in history met is contradictory. From the quotations in his works, it is understood that Socrates was around sixty, while Plato was in his twenties when they met. Plato, who was also interested in politics, abandoned this pursuit after Socrates was sentenced to death, turning instead to developing his teacher's thoughts and establishing his own philosophical system. In 387 BC, he founded the Academy, one of the longest-lasting educational institutions in the Western world. Among the dialogues of Socrates, Plato's works are perhaps among the most complex and profound. This dialogue stands out as a text where the philosopher delves deeply into ontology, epistemology, and the philosophy of language, reflecting his interest in Eleatic thought and the philosophy of being.
