Product description

The silent american (hardcover) book, 224 pages, british journalist fowler living in saigon, is witnessing the endless war of colonial france with communist-led forces in vietnam in the early 1950s. He meets pyle, a young american that washington sent to the city on a mysterious mission. "the disaster caused by the activities of this ""quiet and innocent"" american, who thought that his country could be useful by finding a ""third way"" between colonialism and communism in the region, was great." Graham greene points out that innocence and idealism can sometimes have extremely destructive consequences

While creating an extraordinary vietnamese atmosphere with vivid scenes, the complex political situation in the country intertwines with the competition between fowler and pyle for a vietnamese woman. The silent american draws attention with his harsh criticism of the united states for interfering in the internal affairs of a country he knows nothing about. "in his novel from 1955, written before the vietnam war, greene predicted that the united states would soon find itself in a predicament in vietnam, in a period when it was believed to be the ""democracy guardian"" of the world." , silent american (hardcover) book ,graham greene silent american (hardcover) book, i̇ş bankası culture publications books, graham greene books, graham greene books , modern classics books, silent american (hardcover) can moralı & mehmet moralı books the most beautiful literature books debir publications, ankara bookstore, ulus bookstore
