Türkiye İş Bankası Kültür Yayınları Selected Poems from His Whole Collection - Modern Klasikler Dizisi (Hardcover)

Product description

Rainer maria rilke (1875-1926) is one of the largest representatives of the western poetry art of the 20th century. The city where the poet was born, prague, is within the borders of the austro-hungarian empire at that time. "in a period when the cosmopolitan culture of central europe reached its peak, rilke, who grew up in this period, focuses all his life on the ""search for poetry in poetry""." The two trips lou salome made to russia in 1899 and 1900, and meeting tolstoy there, play an important role in this quest. The friendship he established with rodin and cézanne in paris also enriches his world of emotions. Again, meeting hölderlin and german idealism are the strong veins that nourished rilke's poetry. "stefan zweig, in a conference on rilke in london in 1936, describes the poet as follows: ""none of the rich and successful poets of our time were as free as rilke, who did not tie himself to anything." He had neither habits nor an address nor actually a homeland

he could live just as easily in italy, france, or austria, and it was never known where he was.

being with him was always just around the corner of coincidence.
