Türkiye İş Bankası Kültür Yayınları Satranç Stefan Zweig Modern Klasikler , Novel

Product description

Stefan zweig is one of the rare writers who used a vast accumulation of psychology in his works in its entirety. This feature is also at the core of the well-deserved reputation he earned as a biographer of world literature

that is, in addition to his authorship, he is a very skilled psychologist. Chess is a story in which zweig fully incorporates his psychological accumulation

and the main characters of this story are displayed in the way they function, completely those people the author has addressed in his biographies. At the time he wrote chess, one of the few prose texts he completed just before his death, he was living in brazil, where he had migrated with his wife lotte zweig. He also chose a cruise ship going from new york to buenos aires as the setting for the chess game. Three people who have come across purely by accident on this ship: the new world chess champion mirko czentovic, the narrator, an ordinary chess player, and dr. b., who was once a very skilled chess player, but has been away from chess for a long time. Are the actors of the story. Stefan zweig was born in vienna on october 20, 1881. The three great masters, the poets of their own life, those who fought themselves, written between 1920-1928, brought great resonance. Zweig, who rejected all kinds of official awards throughout his life, went to south america for a conference in 1940 and lived the rest of his life there. On february 23, 1942, together with his second wife lotte, zweig chose death with a deep sense of despair caused by the war, like many of the heroes of his novels he created.
