Yusuf with the well, the devil within us değirmen sabahattin ali (1907-1948) finished the istanbul teachers' school in 1928. After teaching secondary school in yozgat, he passed the exam opened by the ministry of education and went to germany in 1928. He studied in potsdam and berlin for two years

while teaching german in aydın and konya, he was arrested for political reasons. He spent 3 months in aydın and 1 year in konya and sinop prisons. After leaving, he taught german in ankara, and worked as a translator, teacher, and dramaturge at the ankara state conservatory. In 1945, it was taken under the ministry's jurisdiction. In 1946, he went to istanbul. In the same year, he started to publish the weekly humor newspaper markopaşa with saint john the baptist. Many of his articles published here have been investigated. After his 4-month sentence, he started truck transportation in 1948. With the anxiety he felt from being constantly monitored, he wanted to escape to bulgaria from kırklareli with his truck, and in the process he was killed. Where his grave is located is still unknown. Edebiyata çağlayan started with poems, stories and criticism articles in magazines such as servetifünun, picture moon, seven torch, being. His first novel, kuyucaklı yusuf (1937), followed by the devil within us (1940) and fur coat madonna (1943). He addressed the anatolian people left alone in his works, the contradiction of village and city, people who died, killed, imprisoned under heavy economic conditions. He became one of the pioneers of our realistic literature movement by describing his characters' conflicts arising from the inherent social structure.
