Maişet engine is the first novel from the pen of sait faik. While it was still being reviewed in the new magazine (1940-41), it would be found objectionable in the oppressive political climate of the period and would struggle to find a publisher as a novel. it would be published in 1944 from ahmet i̇hsan publishing house with the financial support of sait faik's mother. However, while it was about to be distributed, the novel, which was collected by the decision of the board of ministers, came to its reader in 1952, with some paragraphs removed and under the name of several people. As i̇ş bank culture publications, we have been removing the censorship on the medar maişet engine for years and presenting the text in full, with the parts that have been removed as “dangerous” in bold letters.
