Product description
Les Miserables by Victor Hugo (1802-1885): One of the greatest writers of French literature. He is known for his poems, plays and novels. He is the representative of the Romanticism movement in France. In addition to his enormous literary achievements, he also played an active role in political life
for this reason, he was sentenced to exile, and although he completed his sentence, he did not return to France until the fall of the Empire. First published in 1862, Les Misérables is the most spectacular part of the author's trilogy of novels dealing with "society", where he had dealt with "religion" in The Hunchback of Notre-Dame and "nature" in The Workers of the Sea. This epic novel starts from French society and reaches out to humanity with a cosmological perspective and a unique sensitivity. The stories of Fantine, Cosette, Marius, the barricades of Saint-Denis Street, Paris, Javert and Jean Valjean, from misery to love, from disaster to goodness and from darkness to light, meet the readers in the 250th book of Hasan Âli Yücel Classics Series. Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky (1821-1881): His first novel, Inhumans, was published in 1846. The famous critic V. Byelinski spoke of Dostoyevsky as the great writer of the future. However, his stories and novels published later did not attract much attention at the time, even though they are among the classics of literature in our time. In 1849, the author was arrested on the grounds that he was a member of the Petraşevsky group, which opposed the oppressive regime of Nicholas I. When he was about to be shot, his sentence was commuted to exile and conscription. After completing his sentence and returning from Siberia, he started publishing the magazine Vremya in Petersburg and regained his former fame with the novels he wrote. Crime and Punishment is Dostoevsky's most widely read masterpiece all over the world.
