Türkiye İş Bankası Kültür Yayınları Children's Night - Modern Klasikler Dizisi

Product description

Maurice maeterlinck was considered for the nobel prize in literature in 1911 due to his outstanding works that brought symbolist theater to prominence. The belgian writer, who wrote his works in french and was inspired by french literary currents, had immigrated to the united states when world war ii broke out. In 1941, he penned a kind of "will" for the future of humanity in new york. In order to put an epic point in his literary production, he chose a genre that he had mastered for this work, which he started writing. The children's night, with its dramatic and meaningful language, turned into a philosophical story about an extraordinary night experienced by two children. After clashing with negative forces in that dark night, those who managed to build a better world while dawn was breaking represented the people of tomorrow, the actors of the future. According to antonin artaud, maeterlinck pioneered in this work to "add many riches of the unconscious to literature"

while addressing themes valuable to him such as materialism, nature, death, and happiness, he did not abandon optimism. Seventy-five years after the author's death, the children's night, a timeless masterpiece with a message for readers of all ages, was rediscovered by his grandson as a "miraculous work," much like the little prince.
