summary: Emily dickinson (1830-1886): a lyricist with a uniquely brilliant style.

along with walt whitman, the 19th

is considered one of the two most important poets of american literature of the century. He wrote nearly 1800 poems throughout his life, but only 10 of them were published during his lifetime. Dickinson, who freely disregards the usual rules of poetry and grammar, is also extremely bold and authentic in the content of her works.

from his twenties, the poet began to lead a recluse life. In most of his poems, an attempt is seen to either reject or reflect on the feeling of loneliness caused by the sense of abandonment. His poems have been published in numerous collections after his death, and all of his poems were first published in 1955. An edition containing the original versions of all his poems was prepared by r. w. franklin in 1999, and this edition was used in the translation you have in your hands. All poems of emily dickinson will be published in 3 volumes in hasan ali yücel's classics series. The first volume, comprised of poems written between 1850 and 1862, features the first stanza of the 163rd poem, titled "a flower with a letter."
