Türkiye İş Bankası Kültür Yayınları Ben, Claudius - Modern Klasikler Dizisi

Product description

Graves, which was published in 1934, tells the story of ben, claudius, as if written by the fourth emperor of rome, claudius, during the reigns of augustus, tiberius, and caligula. While the author mixed real events with fiction, he took care to ensure that his work was compatible with historical facts. Ben has been included in the lists of the best hundred novels written in english, prepared by claudius, modern library, and time magazine. Claudius, who was kept away from social life by his family due to his clumsiness, lameness, and shyness, and who was doubted about his mental abilities for a long time due to these features, was intelligent and well-equipped contrary to the common belief about him. He spent his time writing and reading greek works, and became a historian by profession.

Graves creates a kind-hearted and lovable character that the reader can empathize with, thanks to claudius, who is owed to being mistaken for a harmless genius in the roman empire, where the power struggle knows no bounds, and where all kinds of intrigues, plots, and assassinations roam.
