Türkiye İş Bankası Kültür Yayınları Antik Yunan’da Mit ve Düşünce

Product description

Although my studies focus on sources that fall within the expertise of ancient greek specialists and antique historians, they adopt a different perspective.

i interpreted religious phenomena such as myth, ritual and visual representations, philosophy, science, art, social institutions, technology and economy as creations by humans as expressions of a regular mental activity.

through these artefacts, we try to understand the ancient greek human being, whom we cannot separate the human being, the producer and the product from the social and cultural context in which it is located. Jean-pierre vernant, who pioneered in the field of ancient greek civilization, traces the history of thought of an ancient civilization in this work called myth and thought, which was first translated into turkish, by applying the historical psychology method.

From the founding myths to the mythological heroes, from the transition to the city states to its reflections in the world of mentality, to the values attached to labor from the world of craft, vernant, who takes the reader on a multidimensional journey, sheds light on the transition from mythological thinking to rationality.
