Türkiye İş Bankası Kültür Yayınları Amokles'in Karanlık Odası

Product description

The dark room of damokles is considered to be one of the most excellent novels written about the second world war. Willem frederik hermans's 1958 work presents a philosophical discussion on the unknown truth under the guise of a thriller novel. From the moment it met the reader, it gained great attention, was translated into english in 1962, adapted to cinema in 1963 by dutch director fons rademakers, and also inspired john le carré's famous novel the spy from the cold. In voorschoten, a tobacco shop in the nazi-occupied netherlands, osewoudt meets a member of a resistance organization named dorbeck who is exactly like him. Dorbeck ensures that he participates in attacks against the gestapo and dutch collaborators with the instructions he gives.

but after the war, osewoudt is arrested as a collaborator.

dorbeck is mixed with loss.

osewoudt needs her to prove her innocence. There is no way to know if dorbeck really exists. In the universe where zira hermans' works pass, only tools in the service of science and logic can produce reliable information. The characters of hermans are hermits who always misinterpret reality that surrounds them

they are victims who have lost themselves in the conflict between the world and representation, and are left at the mercy of coincidence.
