TREND Soğdlar Ve Türkler İpek Yolu'nun Tüccarları Ve Hakimleri

Product description

Many of the commercial, religious, social and cultural interactions in a wide geography extending from the Islamic world to East Asia were realized through the Silk Road.

One of the ancient peoples of this trade route was the Sogdians.

The Sogdians, who inhabited the fertile valleys of Central Asia, between the Ceyhun and Seyhun rivers, along the Zafarshan Valley, were among the region's most prominent trading peoples from the 6th century BC to the 10th century AD, with their language, culture, social characteristics and commercial abilities that could be described as "homo economicus". From the 6th century BC to the 10th century AD, the Sogdians were among the region's most prominent trading peoples

due to their long-distance trade, the Sogdians appeared in the historical records of many different cultures, from the Sassanids to the Chinese, from Byzantium to the Muslim Arabs. century under the rule of the Huns, the Sogdians entered a period of stability in which the city structure, commercial order and social fabric were strengthened, and they became the masters of the Silk Road under the rule of the Turkish Khaganate (Göktürks).

In the 6th century, the expansion of the borders of the Turkish Khaganate from China to the eastern border of Byzantium opened a large market area for the Sogdians. In this process, they served the Turkish conquerors and rulers with their deep-rooted historical ties and contributed to the empire with their diplomatic, political and commercial knowledge.

Despite the extraordinary role they played in the history of the Silk Road and Central Asia as well as in ancient Turkish history, there is no academic study on the Sogdians in our country.

Sogdians and Turks: Merchants and Rulers of the Silk Road fills this gap and takes the reader on a journey on the Silk Road.
