Timaş Yayınları Ingeborg Un Tollak I

Product description

The old lumberjack tollak is the man of contradictions

proud and furious, honest and compassionate. Tollak is overwhelmed with love for ingeborg, his beautiful wife who disappeared a while ago and has been cursing the world that has no meaning for him for a long time... but now tollak is dying. His two children are away

there is only the half-smart oddo, whom tollak takes care of, alone with him since his mother gave up on him. But tollak is persistent for his children to come-he needs to talk to them and share his secret before it's too late. Reading like both a great love story and a psychological thriller, in this novel tore renberg delicately examines the poignant, complex and disturbing portrait of a man from yesterday's world who collides with today. Ingeborg's tollak, compared by critics to the works of writers such as cormac mccarthy, john williams, and tarjei vesaas, and shown as renberg's most outstanding work, is a dizzying novel about love, violence, and resistance to modern life. “fiction is technically magnificent, it is intertwined in the past and in the present of this tragic lonely man’s life. Tollak is a loud no to urbanization, digitalization, pragmatism, media, [...]. The only thing that really gets him going is love. Tore renberg's tollak is screaming at us from the recent past. Because he's one of those characters who don't want or can't keep up with our time, so he can't figure out how to exist in this world. This novel is an incredibly strong portrait and a dense family drama. Ingeborg's tollak is a precious celebration of renberg's twenty-five years as a writer.” – marta norheim, nrk “this is the strongest book of the fall. A man's portrait, a tragic family story, a piece of cultural criticism, a beautiful love story... and a thriller. Ingeborg's tollak reveals the plot layer by layer with a powerful and magnificent narrative. And i don't think you'll mind if i say that this book by the author reminded me of hamsun. Run and get it now!” – jan ø helgesen, nettavisen
