Product description

Meşa selimoviç describes the deep confusion that befell the sufi sheikh ahmed nureddin, who lived in a world built on absolute religious truths in the dervish and death, after his brother was wrongly accused and executed. Against the backdrop of crime, punishment, justice, religion, and authority, the novel subtly navigates the complexities and tides of the human psyche. The dervish and death, published in 1967, is a masterpiece translated into thirty languages, winner of numerous critics of different periods, adapted for the cinema, included in the lists of the 100 basic works recommended by the meb and awarded to numerous important literary prizes. In an era when modernist writers were writhing in the grip of self-centered illusion, selimovic wrote this immortal work about the dervish, death and justice (lack of). The work you will read from mahmut kıratlı's exquisite translation is, in this respect, a story of extreme value in terms of addressing the conflict between moral and political, the encounter of traditional wisdom with modern times, and questioning justice through the death of 'the other'. Brings up a very important issue. ” - faithful yalsızuçanlar
