Tekin Yayınevi Şam Kapıları - - Lieve Joris Book

Product description

Both of us rebelled against the world we grew up in as teenagers.

while i was rewarded for my nobility, he was punished.

the society i lived in opened up to me, and his closed him up in itself, more and more.

i never stop asking myself what would i do if i were him.

or if he were in my place. Lieve, who lives in europe, goes to stay with hala, whom she met in baghdad years ago, in syria. At this moment, he finds the opportunity to closely observe what is happening in the east, in a place that does not belong to him and does not belong to him. The friendship with hala still shows the inner face of a geography of modern syria, trapped in constant conflicts and soaked in blood.

When looking at what is happening in syria from the perspective of an eastern woman who has lived there and has a prominent political stance in her past, things become even more complicated and lieve finds herself in the midst of thousands of questions, emotions, truths, and lies as a western woman who grew up with a completely different culture. Lieve joris, who has established a delicate balance between journalist identity and novel style, challenges us to question our views on the middle east in this autobiographical work.

are east and west imaginary concepts, or are they really two enemies with different essences? Lieve joris's gripping language, his honest explanation of his own position, and the panoramic view of modern syria he presents offer strong evidence that you should not put down the book.
