The sponge with a curved middle section of its body allows for easier holding. Since the ends are a bit chubby, there is not much angle in the pointed part. You need to be more careful when applying to the under-eye area, eye socket or around the nose. You can change the application method depending on how you hold the sponge. If you are going to apply it to the entire face, the wide base part should be on top, otherwise the pointed tip should be on top.
