Siyasal Kitabevi Critical Educational Writing

Product description

The critique education movement is not a reform movement aimed at eliminating the deficiencies of the capitalist system, but a radical liberation movement that will lead to a social project where property relations are transformed and social welfare is equally distributed. It is accepted that the knowledge produced in schools is not objective and unbiased, but rather reinforces the dominant ideology by concealing the power relations in society.

It assumes that power relations based on oppression and subjugation, and dominant forms of knowledge and understanding, can be transformed into a liberating space where schools produce critical knowledge and foster critical awareness by enabling the understanding of social reality. It emphasizes the concept of practice, which involves the unity of thought and action, and advocates that the distinction between theory and practical action should be eliminated. With a critical pedagogical approach, such a prediction can be achieved not with the methods of classical teaching, but with a dialogic education process where teachers and learners learn and teach at the same time, and they research knowledge together. In the dialogic teaching process, the hierarchical relationship between the teacher and the learner disappears, students become the subject of the learning process instead of being its object, and as a result, learning turns into a liberation practice. This book consists of articles by important representatives of critical educators who analyze the transformations in the education system under neoliberal and neoconservative dominance and call for struggle on the path to liberation.
