Sia Kitap The Other Face of the Mountain

Product description

As we prepare the tenth edition of "the other side of the mountain," the book is approaching its thirtieth year. My mother, hadiye sayron, passed away in december 1990, at the age of eighty. among her belongings, we found piles of letters and a whole collection of photographs. I was surprised by the richness of this material, which could come out of the badir so intact.

mother was an orphan girl of a destitute family, a balkan refugee who had lost her existence in wars, displacements

a destitute boarding. A member of the first group of scholarship students sent by the republic to europe for higher education

a graduate of oxford university. After the 1980 coup, he became a professor of english literature and translation at the gazi university, which was converted into a beautiful republic institution, the gazi education institute, and has trained hundreds of teachers. I never thought of my mother as an extraordinary person, and i still don't.

the extraordinary was the generation in which he belonged. Their childhoods were crushed beneath the ruins of the ottoman empire, their youth captivated by the exhilaration of liberation and republicanism.

republicanism girdle, ideals and responsibilities girdle.

non-fading energy, heartiness and hard work.

for ? Doesn't matter at all.

what is important? Labor, dedication, honor, culture.

here they are so precious. And the members of this generation, who do not hesitate to compromise the future fluctuations of life, silently carry the wounds of their predecessors.
