I lost my self-confidence in front of you, replaced by an unlimited sense of guilt.

When i was around other people, i couldn't change myself instantly. i became more aware of my guilt in their presence because, as i said before, i had to compensate for the injustices i had committed at work that were also my responsibility.

This letter that kafka wrote to his father but, as far as known, could not send, shows that it is not possible to abstract the development of his personality from the influence of his father, hermann kafka.

In the lines of the letter, it is clearly read that kafka compared himself to his father and found him powerless and inadequate. It's clear how his inability to live up to his father's expectations, despite finding his father's criticisms unfair, affected him, especially considering he felt weak both physically and emotionally. When kafka wrote this letter, he was 36 years old, but his words reflect a timid boy who still doesn't know how to stand up to a father who seems overly powerful and lacks self-confidence. Throughout his life, kafka, who preferred to stay away from his father's work and home, took refuge in the love of his mother and his sister ottla. his entire letter is both a self-defense and a bid to obtain the fatherly love he believed he never had.
