Pozitif Yayınları Turkish Mythology

Product description

Turkish mythology is not just ancient myths

it is a living system that shapes the worldview and social structure of a nation. It encompasses a wide range, from the belief in monotheism to post-islamic conversions.

before accepting monotheism, turks adopted primitive religions without founders such as shamanism, totemism, animism, and naturism, attributing sacred meanings to animals and plants. However, due to reasons such as the respect and admiration of the human spirit towards great entities and events, creation myths have emerged from these and they have been believed. This book invites the reader on a journey to understand a legacy shaped between the goodness of ulgen and the darkness of erlik, while allowing us to see the turks' millennia-old imagination, shamanic rituals, and sacred bond with nature.

From umay ana's protective affection to bozkurt's guiding spirit, from the book of genesis to oğuz kağan's blessed birth, you will find many topics about the long and complex mythological journey of the turks in this book, presented in question and answer format.
