Product description

"the travel books of the period, such as ""taymis kiyilari"", ""tuna kiyilari"", ""what i saw while traveling"", which greatly influenced the intellectual atmosphere and are read with pleasure by history today, show the power of his pen." Rifki atay has a compelling, rich, witty, and event-based style of defending his theses. This trip made by prof. dr. ilber ortayli falih rifki atay to europe and england in the early 1930s not only includes political and historical analyses and tourist observations. Atay makes striking analyses in the context of daily life, material culture, and traditions, specifically between england and the ottoman-turkish cultures, and generally between europe and asian-african cultures. The period of turkey and the new republic is trying to find solutions by comparing the batililasma, çagdaslama and modernization processes and pains of both cultures and their combined dynamics. From the 'museumization' of daily culture to the transformation of cities with industrialization It examines the political, social and cultural reflections of the period, from identity searches to ways of life in different geographies, from the perspective of westernization, europeanization and modernization. Especially as it consists of notes taken while walking the streets of london and along the banks of the thames, it is one of the first travel books with political, sociological and anthropological analyses in our literature and thought world. it deserves to be read again after a long time, as it is one of the first travel books.
