Pozitif Yayınları Taymis Kıyıları

Product description

Travelogues such as “coasts of taymis”, “coasts of tuna”, “what i saw while traveling”, which greatly influenced the intellectual atmosphere of his time and are still read with pleasure by historians today, demonstrate the power of his pen. Rıfkı atay has a compelling, richly contented style that defends his theses based on contrasting appearances and events.

Prof. dr. i̇lber ortaylı: falih rifki atay's trip to europe and england in the early 1930s was more than just political and historical analysis and tourist observations.

Atay offers striking analyses of everyday life, material culture, and traditions, particularly between england and the ottoman-turkish cultures, and more broadly between european and asian-african cultures. The period's turkey and the new republic's westernization, modernization and modernization processes and pains are being analyzed by comparing the dynamics of both cultures.

From the 'museumization' of everyday culture to the industrialization and transformation of cities. It explores the political, social, and cultural reflections of the era, from identity searches to lifestyles in different geographies, within the contexts of westernization, europeanization, and modernization.

Especially considering it's one of the first travelogues in our literature and thought world, containing political, sociological, and anthropological analyses based on notes taken while wandering the streets of london and along the banks of the thames river, it's long overdue to be reintroduced to readers.
