Pinhan Yayıncılık The Sociology of Secrecy and Secret Societies

Product description

“privacy puts up barriers between people, but it also offers the temptation of breaking those barriers through gossip or confession.

the spiritual life of the secret also accompanies this charm as a top note. Thus, the sociological meaning of the secret, its extent in practice and the way it is processed should be sought in its ability to keep the secret to itself or in its resistance to the urge to betray.

from this game of storage and explanation, the nuance and fate of human relations are revealed. The groundbreaking thoughts of the famous german sociologist georg simmel, focusing on social interaction, continue to influence contemporary sociology theories today. In this study on secret societies, simmel traces the traces of the secrecy concept, which is based on individual relationships, and its influence from african tribes to freemasons and from there to central political powers.
