PAPER BOOKS Totem und Tabu: Einige Übereinstimmungen im Seelenleben der Wilden und der Neurotiker

Product description

„die folgenden vier aufsätze entsprechen einem ersten versuch meiner seite, gesichtspunkte und ergebnisse der psychoanalyse auf ungeklärte probleme der völkerpsychologie anzuwenden.

They contain, on the one hand, a methodical contradiction to the grand-scale work of w.

Wundt, which makes the assumptions and working methods of non-analytical psychology serve the same purpose, and on the other hand to the works of the zurich psychoanalytic school, which in turn seek to address problems of individual psychology by drawing on material from ethnopsychology.

It is gladly acknowledged that the next impulse for my own work came from these two sides. The four essays gathered here claim the interest of a wider circle of educated people and can actually only be understood and evaluated by a few, to whom psychoanalysis is no longer foreign in its own way.

you want to choose between ethnologists, linguists, folklorists, etc.

On the one hand, and psychoanalysts on the other, convey and cannot give both what is due to them: the former a sufficient introduction to the new psychological technique, the latter a sufficient mastery of the material that is essential for processing. So they will have to content themselves with attracting attention here and there and arousing expectations that a further meeting of the two sides may not remain fruitless for research."
