Palet Yayınları Ecel-i Kaza

Product description

It is a known fact that the tanzimat period and theatre played an important role in the change and westernization of ottoman society. In fact, the first examples of turkish theater in the western sense, such as many areas and genres, begin to be seen from this period.

one of the first mensur dramas of this period is ebu ziyah tevfik's ecel-i kaza.

the work is both the author ' s first book and the first and only play of copyright. Since its publication in 1872, the ecel-i kaza, which is understood to have caused an echo, has been staged both in the required period and later many times, and has been quite popular and welcomed with interest according to the available data.

The play, which consists of five acts and five scenes, revolves around families who, despite loving each other to death, have a blood feud between them. the story follows the romantic love adventures of two young people who, due to the actions of the girl's manipulative father and the ongoing of this case, cannot come together, and whose fate ends in death.

there are clues in the artwork that may lead you to think that “romantic love” is a tool. The fact that laz ahmet pasha, the governor of erzurum, is a corrupt administrator, and the presence of individuals trying to resist this suggests that a message is intended to be conveyed "for the struggle for freedom and dictatorship" under the pretext of "romantic love". In addition, the game, which also includes ideas against the blood case, also includes the lives of some people, their religious and moral beliefs, and their approaches to events, including some minorities within the ottoman society.

In the book you hold in your hands, you will find the place in the history of turkish theater of ecel-i kaza, its importance, its printing and staging adventure, the popularity it has seen, its analysis made within a certain plan, its dictionary based on the text with new and old letter texts.
