summary: the book in your hand is also an important source for turkish-mongolian history, marco polo's xiii. The most authoritative edition of his unique narrative about the fascinating journey from venice to the palace of the mongol ruler kubilay is presented in a turkish translation. The first synthesis of the known hundred and forty-three manuscripts has been entered in an italian edition of 1928, but the complete synthesis

It was only possible in 1938 thanks to a new manuscript found by professor arthur christopher moule and professor paul pelliot in toledo. This text, reconstructed based on the total of existing manuscripts, has been published in english, and the french translation has been provided in the edition prepared by louis hambis in 1955. In your hands is a text that can be considered complete, based on the 1955 edition. Similarly, footnotes are a kind of synthesis of the work carried out to date. The notes of the text presented here, by stéphane yerasimos, from the notes of guillaume pauthier, who for the first time in 1865 demonstrated the value of polo's information, specifically based on chinese texts

From paul pelliot's extremely detailed and clear notes

Although it is in many points behind compared to pelliot's notes, it has the feature of offering a solution, so it has been prepared based on louis hambis' notes, which are more suitable for this type of work. Finally, reference has been made to byzantine sources that sinologists have neglected. Thus, marco polo's unique journey, also known as 'one million lies', has been depicted more prominently and powerfully, not as fiction, but as the highest level of expression of the extraordinary, in yerasimos' words, reality.
