summary: The concept of self has become a subject of much philosophical contemplation.Understanding what consciousness truly is indeed requires contemplating many fundamental epistemological, ontological, and psychological issues.

what are the features that distinguish essences from other things in the world? Can we go beyond our subjective experience? How do attributes decide and act?The study of such questions can help us understand consciousness, the distinction between subject/object (external world), the activity of the subject, and the dynamics of our epistemic access.

This book aims to develop original perspectives on the answers offered by ancient greek philosophers to questions like these about the self. While doing this, he presents a clear and systematic framework of the concept of self. Each section of the book examines a broad period, from the presocratic philosophers to the hellenistic schools, based on specific philosophers and texts. We believe that the book "antiquity in ancient greek thought" will fill an important gap in turkish philosophy literature.
