summary:That was my story, thought nils.

now he knew everything, he saw the whole picture.Step by step, he had come here waiting for his turn.To be born is to live enough to understand what air, sea, land, hate, and love are, and eventually to say goodbye with gratitude.

despite everything, it was a big story, a story full of many musvedes and drafts, a story that still had an end, a story of harmony and acceptance, a story of past and change.

a story starts to get out of control after it begins.

the person's turn is to watch it until it ends.

Captain nils vik, a boat captain who has lost his wife and whose daughters have built their own lives, sets out on a voyage on the last day of his life, just like he has done countless times before. But unlike other times, this time he's not inviting real passengers, but people who have left their mark on his life and memory, his dead relatives and acquaintances, aboard his boat.

with them, this last time, reviewing all his life and accounting for his past, will not return.

We warmly recommend this novel, which has been awarded the prestigious brage prize of norway, to our literature-loving readers.
