summary: is this society a destiny? Is the current situation of the world today the only possible situation? Or is it a result of preferences made by previous generations? Is a new society possible today or in the future? From one of the most important names of the movement of social ecology, murray bookchin introduces to reread the history of humanity and from there proposes a design of “a new society” with movement. According to bookchin, the idea of human domination over man has emerged before the idea of domination over nature and has been consolidated in structures such as tribal hierarchies, male-dominant hunter and warrior communities. These forms of domination have over time been reflected in nature, and ultimately, the landscape that stands before us today is faced with an almost depleted nature, a torn ozone layer, and increasingly spreading nuclear and radioactive waste. Bookchin maintains that in the history of mankind, there is a libertarian alternative to every dominant political structure: the society of today has its alternative. Through approaches such as establishing a participatory politics, governance from the ground up, creating livable small communities, using technologies that will not harm nature or even repair natural disturbances, establishing a harmonious balance and exchange between humans and nature, the world can be saved from the inevitable “apocalypse” to which it is today heading. The domination that has caused much pain throughout history can be eliminated.
