Product description
The story of three palestinian men, the men in the sun, whose paths intersect at a smuggler's writing house in basra. When he rests his chest, he's like an old-time villager who's attached to the ground enough to hear the heart of the earth, a young activist who has no choice but to run when his fight against injustice shows the way to the dungeon, and a toy student who has to leave school and “cook” in the real world. When they arrive in kuwait and start working and making money in this rich country of the gulf, they hope to change the fate not only for themselves but also for the palestinian people, their families, and loved ones who they have left behind. Once they hit the road, they have to deal with the unbearable heat of the desert, as well as the painful memories left behind. When the journey ends, we see that they could not move away from palestine, its painful history. Men in the sun is a text that continues to be written even after it was published in 1963. We also read it as the story of immigrants who were roasted in the desert, drowned in the ocean, kept ice in the trunk of a truck or in the baggage of an airplane.
